i do a fair bit of town driving but on motorways i can be a little lead footed at times so my average MPG doesnt improve much, i dont think 25 MPG is too bad for a car of its size running 230BHP with a turbocharged engine anyway, im just curious what other people get out of thiers biggrin

im not sure the computer is correct on mpg.my 93 20i says 30mpg on a motorway but i worked out i can do a lil under 500 miles on a full tank ,which i know is a lot more at a steady 70 mph.ive been told the lowly 20i is no performer but as this is not my only car it does the job well.

Our figures are:

2002 9-3 Aero HOT auto convertible, tuned to 270bhp/370Nm:

High 30s on motorway, 22 urban, average 28 (I'm an enthusiastic driver).

2001 9-5 SE auto estate (185bhp). Nearly 40 on motorway, 22 round town, 27 average. (Wife is a steady driver)

thats pretty good for a tuned 9-3 Aero, out of interest what mods have you done to it as im thinking about getting a little more than 230 BHP out of mine.

I have a 1999 9-5 SE auto estate (standard 150 hp), and it appears to drink the stuff around town. My overall average on mixed driving is less than 26, but even on motorway driving it rarely betters 33. (Thats at 80 leptons plus most of the time though.)

My V8 Mustang almost gets a better average than that.

54 reg 9-5 aero. Currently at 25.6mpg.

Does 32 on a run.

They are feck off heavy cars so anything oter than cruising along drinks the stuff.

Better than my previous e39 528 auto, that did 21.1!! (much better built though).

9-5 2.3t auto and 38-40 on the long run (have seen higher if you reset on the mway so ignoring the few miles that cock up the sums), around 140 miles each way. Around town, 26-30 odd depending.

i have had 40 on a run on cruise, my 9-5 is over 300bhp. fuel seems to get better with the tuning of the car. except the temptation to put your foot down

52-reg 9-5 Aero (auto), I average 28-30mpg.

That's not much town driving, as I tend to commute against the traffic.
35mpg fairly easy on a run, but as everyone else has already said, in town it's low 20's.

Last car I had which was similar in size was an E430 Merc. Not much between them performance wise, but 18mpg in town, and 27mpg on a run, with a light right foot!

I think the economy is fantastic considering the performance.

ETA: Ooh, ooh, my 100th post!

I've a 2004 9-5 Aero auto, and 75% of my driving is within the boundary of the M25, and I hover around the 25-27 mark during the warmer months, 23-25 during the colder months. Low to mid 30's are easy on a decent run though.

9-3 Aero 2.8T Hirsch.
I'm getting around 34-37mpg on my usual commute to work which is all motorway. Around town sees the mpg drop to round mid 20s. or low 20s if the traffic is very bad.

26.3 MPG over the last 1500 miles (haven't worked out the last 500 worth) on my 1992 c900 t16s with old school modifying (5th injector dumping in fuel at high boost pressure) giving 260+ bhp. And like others i drive enthusiastically - the above figures include london driving, motorway, general town and some serious caning.

1996 9000 Griffin 2.3T Automatic, I see 35-39mpg on a run if I don't use the loud pedal too much. Round town seems to vary from 18-24mpg.

MY04 Aero saloon manual.

If I drive like an undertaker I can maintain about 30mpg with a mix of driving.

I have seen mid 30's on the motorway at 65-70mph.

I tend to average about 26-27 day to day though.
