Classic 900 questions

I find myself looking back again at Saab after a long performance interlude and increasingly I'm drawn back to the 900 classic but don't know enough about the spec. differentials. Can anyone tell me the difference on the convertibles between 900i, Turbo and Turbo S please?

I would also welcome input on manual vs. auto.

We have had two classic 900 turbos - a manual and an auto. Both were great cars, but I would go for the manual. The mpg on the auto was very poor if I remember. Personally, I much prefer the 3 door hatch shape to the 2 door saloon. I don't go for the 5 door at all.

Any car of the age of a classic 900 will need some maintainance, so I would look for a recommended local independant garage. I wish I was in the position to go shopping for a 900 turbo again. Let us know what you end up with.
