Ive got a 1992 Saab 900 which has developed a problem. I was just wondering if any guru's out there would have the answer to this. The car has just had a new fuel pump fitted as it had started to cough and splutter occasionaly and a garage told me to fit a new pump. So £250 later got the new pump fitted and it ran perfect for a few weeks. Now though it will start and sits on tickover fine but if you touch the throttle it just stalls. Turn it over and it starts easy , again touch the throttle and it stalls. It was been running perfectly prior to this.....any help/advice appreciated. Oh and the 'check engine' warning light comes on. Its far too good a car to scrap !! Thanks in advance

If it's fuel the filter could be blocked. You need to check the fuel pressure when under load. Or, get somebody to test the ecu for fault codes with a scanner. I think you can buy a scanner from halfords for about £20.

Cheers folks. The car is just a regular 1992 900i (non turbo). I dont think its a 16v. How will i know if its the air flow meter ? Will the ecu diagnostic codes tell me that if i can get hold of a tester ?
