Just brought this as a run around, seller claimed it to be a "hot", nothing in the log book saying hot or on the car, any ideas?

If you want any specific photos let me know.

Regards Jamie

If it's an Aero, it's a HOT

Can't rmember the relevant codes to check under the bonnet, but it has the bodykit and the right wheels, so if it has a turbo boost gauge, I'd say twas a HOT - it merely stands for High Output Turbo to differentiate from the Light pressure Turbo's in the 2.0t and 2.3t of that sort of age.

The RAC website confirms it as being an Aero, so it's definitely a HOT.

Or put it in second gear and boot it - if you overtake virtually everything, they it's definitely an Aero! biggrin

Yea, its ok but i was expecting it to be quicker if im honest, feels like the boost is restricted in 1st and 2nd gear then in 3rd it pulls a bit harder. is that what they all feel like? to keep wheel spin at bay i presume? smile

Torque limited in 1st and 2nd to protect the gearbox.

Can someone just confirm what kind of fuel you need to use in the HOT?

I've just been told, elsewhere, that they need Super Unleaded, but I didn't believe this to be the case.

HOT's don't need super unleaded, but it does no harm to use it of course!

Thanks for that - I thought it was crap when I read it.

Saab HOT's will take anything from 92 RON up and will adjust themselves to match the fuel. I actually find I get the best mpg from my 9-3 Aero HOT using 97/98 RON - to the extent it works out cheaper than 95 RON.

Aye, you're in the same position as me - other cars in the stable are liable to make the Saab seem slow. However, readjust your expectations and remind yourself how humble the Saab *should* be given it's cost...!

They don't NEED SUL.....but 98RON is what's recommended by Saab for the B235R HOT (as per the handbook and the sticker on the inside of fuel flap)

However, Trionic will adjust for lesser grades, but obviously you won't be getting full performance if you run 95RON, especially in warmer summer aimbient temps.

My 54 reg HOT feels positively lethargic when run on 95RON. But ballistic on proper stuff.

Start using optimax or Tescos99 and I bet you 2 quid it'll go a lot faster.
