Hirsch Performance
Discussion
The Hirsch upgrades are good, but expensive compared to other tuners. On your car they have the great advantage of not invalidating warranty!
Many people actually fine that when they have a Saab tuned/reprogrammed, their fuel consumption actually gets better! This was my experience with my Stage 3 maptun tune on my 9-3.

Wife has recently bought a 9-3 Aero 2.8 V6, May 07 model.
Wondering whether it is worth getting the Hirsch upgrade, I understand the performance is greatly improved, what effect is there on the consumption.
Hirsch engine upgrade on the 2.8V6 is definately worth it.Wondering whether it is worth getting the Hirsch upgrade, I understand the performance is greatly improved, what effect is there on the consumption.
Hirsch suspension upgrade is worth it as well, greatly improves the ride as the Hirsch replacement springs are progressive.
Consumption should'nt be greatly affected, and as mentioned above, is often improved over standard.
Hi
Hope you have told your insurance? I was going to buy a 120 TID Sportwagon with the upgrade to 140. My insurance company wouldnt touch it and the same with three others.
I got a lovely 150 TID instead and it only cost £30 more to insure than my old 1800 focus. More than enough performance for me
Mick

Strangely, when I told the AA my car had gone from 205bhp/270Nm to 270bhp/370Nm, I got a call back to say that the company they had me with wouldn't insure it, but they had found the Norwich Union would insure it for £50 less than I was paying before! I guess being an old git helps...
I have a 9-3 Aero rag top 210 bhp, with the Hirsch re map.
When I bought the car my existing company (Norwich Union Direct) charged me a fortune for the remaining 2 months of the policy. I have since been with A Plan insurance who deal with companies who specialise in performance cars and came up with a sensible price.
Norwich Unions approach was that anone who re-maps, lowers suspension etc, is going to be driving like a loony! Well, this may be the case in India?
Hello,
After recently buying a 9-3 Tid 150 I had the car remapped by www.celtictuning.co.uk. Car is a reported 205bhp/317 torque which is a fair hike from standard.
Very pleased with the results. The big numbers come round very quickly.

Consumption does not seem to be effected.
The main difference is in the way it pulls ingear, massive difference.
I test drove a 2.8 V6 saloon (250bhp) against the estate 2.8 V6 with the Hirsch upgrade. Jeeze what a difference! massive in gear performance gives the car serious over taking capability. the regular 250bhp tune certainly isn't what you would call slow! The main difference is in the way it pulls ingear, massive difference.
i'm the proud owner of a 06 silver 9-3 2.8 estate! picking it up in a couple of weeks!

You will enjoy very much, that is going to be a long 2 weeks for you, but well worth the wait

What increase does the hirsch chip make to the 2.9?
I had the 252 chip and cooler on my old 2.0 Aero and it was good - very linear torque delivery.

Nick67 can you tell or do you know if the car should have any documentation if it has a hirsch upgrade?
cheers

There should be a certificate direct from Hirsch and you would also inform the garage when you take it that it has the Hirsch kit.Nick67 can you tell or do you know if the car should have any documentation if it has a hirsch upgrade?
