Purchasing 9-3 cab or Audi A4 cab - sell the Saab to me!
Discussion
As thread title really, looking to buy one or the other....I've posted same thread in Audi forum, just thought I'd get your side of the arguement too.
What are the pros and cons? What should I look out for? I'm only looking at the 2.0 petrol as I won't need the grunt anymore and won't be doing a massive amount of miles....
Thanks in advance!

New or used ?
I found the Saab had more rear legroom which was important for us and I also found the Audi performance rather dull when compared to the equivalent engined Saab, the only time I think the Audi was better was in s4 trim and that was way out of my budget.
The interior of the Audi is better screwed together tho.

Audi is better screwed together for sure, but when I was looking I was acually disappointed in the layout of the Audi's dash compared to the Saab.
I found the Saab's seats to be more comfortable than the Audi as well. You'll likely find a better spec Saab for your money as well compared to the Audi.
I wouldn't discount either, go looking for both and buy the best deal for the best car that you can, if a good Saab comes up first then go for the Saab, but if a good Audi comes up, then go for that, I'd say there's that little difference between them.

With reservation between certain models, I would never say an Audi is better screwed together than a Saab. As a Saab specialist, and to offer an unbiased view if that's possible from me, I can't ever recall working on a make of car that offers the quality throughout like Saab do.
For example, seldom if at all will you come across a nut bolt or screw that rust will prevent one from undoing. Likewise clips and fasteners, that don't break when removed, so it's possible to use again and again.
I would say with GM ownership it's entirely possible to see where the bean counters have made their mark on the Saab brand, and the quality of materials might not be quite as great as it used to be pre 1990's, but Saab's are still screwed together as good as, or better than Merc's BMW's Audi's etc etc.
As for Audi. Someone show me an Audi that's not bland? There is one difference Saab have always managed to keep for themselves. Saab styling is still unique. Take any Audi and take away Audi's trademark styling cues, and you're left with a car that's hard to distinguish between one from a rival manufacturer. Oh please don't throw the TT or the R8 into the fray. The TT is already looking dated and the R8 looks like Hot Wheels designed it for kids.

I love my Saab for all the reasons you state above but The Audi interior I looked at when I was considering upgrading my previous gen 9-3 cab was imo far better than the equivalent Saab, I was looking at early ss models at the time. A friend of mine had an early saloon and snapped the handbrake leaver and it rattled all over the place. They may be better now and I would definately have the Saab over the Audi for the reasons I stated above ie legroom and engines ( i do love the way the turbo's deliver ).For example, seldom if at all will you come across a nut bolt or screw that rust will prevent one from undoing. buy a Tuscan
(i have no idea where that random and completly unhelpful post came from)
i have a 9-5, so cant really say on the cabrios but i think they definatly are better value than an A4 and just as well built really, plus as others have said Saabs are pretty firm in sticking to thier own style and a turbocharged Saab engine feels much more pokey than a VAG 1.8T even in 225 BHP form in my opinion.
