fuel guage problems...
Discussion
I've already posted this in the general gassing section, but thought I'd also ask in the SAAB section, original thread is here

and here is my post, has anyone experienced similar problems with their 9-5, or is anyone breaking a 9-5 that I could buy the connector + a few foot of the cable from ?.
The fuel guage on my saab 9-5 died over the weekend. Upon investigiation the sender unit is integral to the pump and has 4 wires going to it. However one of them has completely burnt out. I think this is one of the cables to the sender, hence the lack of a working fuel guage.
I also noticed that the fuel pump had a 30amp fuse instead of a 20amp. Once I replaced this with a 20 amp the fuse blew.
So my plan is to get back to a point on the burnt out wire where I can make a decent connection (probably a bullet connector) and then replace the cable up to the fuel pump. I'm not sure how I will deal with the "special" connector at the fuel pump as there is no salvegable wire at the connector.
Or am I being too simplistic ?.
