My new (to me) 95 Estate
Discussion
Hello all,
Just thought I would say hello as this is my first message here.
After owning a Mercedes from new for the last 6 years I now find myself the proud owner of a year 2000 95 Estate 2.3t or T or something. All I can say is "I love it". 80k and a much better build than the Merc. No rattles or anything.
The only thing I want to change is the orange side indicators as I hate them, they will be smoke very soon. Sad I know but, there you go.
That's it for now, more to come as and when.
Cheers

hi bv, just a note of caution. i would get the sump dropped and cleaned asap and the latest pcv done, these engines are prone to sludging and will cause engine failure and a £k bill to fix not dear about £200 for both from a saab indiependant. even if they have a full saab service history, and switch to fully synthetic mobil 1 changed every 6k or 6 months and she should run for 200k easily.

Thanks for the posts!
I hope to enjoy this car very much as so far I love it.
"I want an Aero" thanks for the info, am I being stupid because I can't think what you mean by pcv. You may all laugh now and think of me when I cringe when told the answer!
All the best,

I haven't heard too many great things about TurbotoTwostroke.
I visited them once to buy a wing mirror glass and they were really unhelpful.
They also tried to charge me a higher price than what I had been quoted over the phone.
Very bad attitude and I vowed to never go back.
I use these people for my 9-5 and i can't recommend them highly enough:
www.saabtechlimited.co.uk
Ian and Jenny are lovely people with a great attitude and approach.
I've had unbelievable customer service from them.
Other great recommendations about them here:

i'd swerve them tbh, they charge an arm and a leg. try www.uksaabs.co.uk and www.saabcentral.com also tell them who sent you
I also have a 95 2.3 SEt (2001) and mine will turn 90k this week so barely run in according to the others!
Ditto the comment re sump it dosent cost a lot at an indi but if your handy with the spanners fairly easy to diy.
Its not the busiest forum but that means sensible answers to questions and little trolling.

This is the Saab forum you know, trolls have nothing to be exited about!
Apart from the never-ending "based on a Vauxhall" cr@p that is! This is the Saab forum you know, trolls have nothing to be exited about!
RE: Sump Drop
My car has never had the sump dropped (I've owned it since 7K miles), it has always been run on fully synthetic (and amazingly has a full Saab Service History! I find with the bolder vehicle discount that saab dealers offer the price between authorised and independent is marginal and for me the convenience of the dealer makes it worthwhile)
A blocked strainer will start to show with squeaking/whistling noises on startup and an oil lihght on the dash that takes a long time to go out.
But I agree if you don't know the service history or have no confidence in it, then I would get it dropped and cleaned for piece of mind.
BTW I'm on the original Turbo too!

I like the sound of the guys over at Stevenage (Saabtech) as that's only 25mins away and the comments left for them on various Saab type forums all seem good. Unless you good folks here tell me otherwise that is you understand. Thanks for your openess about your findings.
Had the car a couple of weeks and washed three times and polished twice, have I gone too far?
