Hi folks,

Having just got my bonus for last year, I want to get a stage 1 tune for my 1999 9-5 LPT. I probably wont worry too much about upgrading to a stage 2+ so does that point me towards a PPC @£550 ish, although I'm a little wary of duffing up the install. Or should I take the cheaper route of an ecu swap at about a nett £400, that would allow an upgrade in the future.

In theory both sound eminently doable as DIY.

Any thoughts?

I have a stage 3 MapTun ECU (plus exhaust etc) - very pleased with it. The stage 1 doesn't require anything other than an ECU swap. My was done by APL Saab in Kirkham but there is also a southern MapTun franchise.

The difference (I have an 02 Aero HOT) with the mods I have is frankly stunning.

Just had a bit of wastegate tweakery done for free during a regular service, seems to have made a reasonable difference from 3500 to 5000 rpm, 1.1 leptons before popping into top. (Auto). Might see how this goes before probably going for an ECU swap.

Cheers,
Paul

(prof, you're from the burton area I think, can I have a ride in your motor?)

I'm in Stafford actually, but why not come to one of the Midlands meets or pop into Curborough one Sunday? Happy to provide a ride sometime.
