what's this about then. My "time for service" warning came on last week so i booked it in for doing but it's now gone away. last week turning on the car would display the message, it would then be cleared by pressing the clear button, it did this for about 5 days. Now it doesn't show at all, is it supposed to do that?

if you hold clear, it will eventually go after a couple of times.

Thats the thing though, I didn't hold 'clear' just pressed it once to get the message to go away so I could see the time/radio station etc??

It just doesn't show at all now? Still gonna get it serviced in the next ferw weeks anyway though.

on my 2002 2.2 TDI the service intervals have been completely off the service schedule specified by Saab. I'm not sure what model it was set for but it wasn't mine!! I'd get it serviced in line with the whatever your handbook specifies and not worry too much about it.

Dave,

On my 2001 9-3, the time for service warning shows for about 20 engine starts then disappears (I can't remember if it comes back again after that or not)... I guess it might be to stop from being too annoying if the mechanic forgot to reset the SID... maybe that's a long shot - but basically, mine does that too!

And to remind you, if you WANT to clear the indicator:

Sorted - it turn out to be a bit subtle:

Just pressing the clear button didn't work, even if done for minute!

Solution was:

Press clear button to clear "Time for Service" message, release, then press it again with no message showing. This resulted in the message "Cleared" after a few seconds, then, KEEP finger on button and, after a few more seconds, the message "Service" appeared. Job's a good 'un.
