Car has just hit 70.5k and the computer's telling me to get it serviced. Just wondering what's the safe amount of time mileage is for going over, bearing in mind I changed the oil/filter only 4k miles ago will it be OK for a couple of weeks?

Got it booked in at Saab Aeromotive in Batley west yorks who are doing the big boy service for £290 all in....which sounds alright really (Saab want over 500quid!!).

Oh and I have another question....but I'll start another thread.

I can't honestly seer a couple of weeks making any difference. Which service is it due and how many miles are you past it? (I'm assuming the car is no longer in warranty of any sort?)

Yep no warranty.

Not 100% sure re which service it is. It involves a new cambelt though.

Last service was around 54k I think so that's a 16k ish interval....which is pretty lengthy but sounds about right from what I remember of the manual.

One other thing, my auto level headlight warning indicator keeps coming on every now and again. When it comes on the lights dip down fully but it makes sod all difference to what you can see so not such a big deal. Also, when you turn the lights off they sometimes flash, strobe like, for a second then go out.

Is that an indication something bad is going to happen??

Another quick one (maybe I should put this on the proper Saab site. Every so often, say 1 drive out of four, the car seems to lack urge. When it's running normally it pulls very, very strongly and the turbo boost gauge goes just over into the red when on full boost. The odd time though you floor it and it doesn't quite feel like it should, still quick but not 'proper' quick and the boost gauge doesn't quite hit the red mark....which is kind of worrying.

Never kicks out any nasty smoke though, no nasty noises either and it is pretty rare......any ideas?Oh and I always put optimax or Tesco99 in it, you can tell the difference with regular unleaded in these.....well in mine anyway.

Just looked in the book, its the 72k mile service which includes a fuel filter change....I wonder if this could cause the occasional drop in performance??

No it doesn't.....you don't have a cambelt wink

Service interval is 12 months/18k miles

Possibly one of the load sensors for the xenon's on the blink...?
Xenon's usually strobe flash when switching them off, so don't worry about that.

Boost gauge on these isn't a real vacuum boost guage, it's an electronic torque request meter and driven by a reading from the ECU.
Check all your vacuum lines to the turbo and BCV to make sure there's no blockage, otherwise, best let a Saab specialist check it out.

What's the drive belt then? What's it driving?

That'll be the auxillary drive belts that drive the a/c comp, alternater etc.

The cams are chain driven.
