I bought 1999 9-3 SE LPT cab with a ....

hole in the bottom of the engine and had salvage "HOT engine" fitted (the car was cheap). The car has the earlier red top earlier engine. Driving it now it does not feel like guess 200bhp and the turbo kicks in at very high revs in gears 1 and 2. Would it still be running the LPT management? What should I do to make turbo kick in harder - I've heard you can adjust the turbo simply.
Also I do want a turbo gauge (didn't notice it was missing when I inspected because the battery was flat) can i fit a OEM dash panel to gain one? I loved watching the needle flick over in my old one.
So surprised at what a nice car it is and how everyone likes it.....

The LPT didnt have a gague and the boost will depend on which ecu its using, I suspect that it will have been changed over as there are differences, I think the HOT uses a bigger turbo than the LPT, if it all does just hook up and its the lpt ecu you will be running a poor combination as the lpt turbo is smaller and spins up earlier and if am correct the HOT turbo will boost higher up so the boost map will be unsuitable for the bigger turbo.
Might be just using base boost if somethings wrong, get a gauge fitted, easy and cheap and will tell you what its boosting to so you can compare to what it should boost to. Check the hoses for leaks etc, might be worth getting the codes off the ecu, engine number and having a word at a Saab dealers.
Additionally the cab is quite heavy (compared to the hatch, especially if its loaded) and that dents performance, my old LPT hatch was a flyer, standard, almost as quick as my 9-3 SS Aero, I think the lpt, as it was basic only weight 1300 ish kilos and the new one is over 1500, hence why I am getting it PPC's
Saabscene may be worth a look also.
