i have a 2000 model 9-3 turbo but dont know what kind it is. i have a 1996 saab abbot convertible which feels like a sports car in comparison as its lower,. by a long way! and louder ! `10 times as loud ,. and bigger tyres on it but tge 9-3 seems faster in a straight line, i am going to time the 0-60 times tomorrow, i have been trying to find on the net the precise specifcation but to no avail, how would i know the bhp etc? i am going to time the 0-60 time tomorrow if it comes under 7 seconds does that mean i have the 205 bhp variety>

From Wikipedia about the B205 engine used in 99-02(03 Cabriolets) 9-3 2litre cars:

There was also a high output (HOT) 205 hp (151 kW) version (called B205R) found in the 9-3 SE and Aero models which featured a Mitsubishi TD04 turbocharger with a single pass front mounted intercooler and special ECU mapping than the base version.

So check which turbo you have...

i think its 205bhp
anyway, in my saab abbot, if it says 0 miles on trip computer i can still drive for about 40 miles, yet when i got to 0 miles on the 9-3,. to my astonishment the car simply stopped and i ran out of petrol. i managed to get a bottle of coke and fill it up with petrol and stick it in, then the turbo pipe blew off and i broke down 4 times on hagley road, then i stuck it back on securely, and zoomed off, the car is very nippy but the handling is crap!

i got the abbott kit on my 900 convertible and i didnt appreciate the difference until i got the 9-3, the car is crap round the bends basically, too much roll and it torque steers plus the air conditioning makes a noise that even when the engine is off the air con still makes this weird whirring noise as if its going to blow up any second. wadeski, have you got the viggen kit on your 9-3?

The aircon should not be making funny noises - mine doesn't.
