I need to write the private sale ad for my 2001 9-3 FPT this week. Obviously i will detail the miles, spec, service history etc and include nice photos of the leather seats and the shiny exterior.

but if you were a potential saab buyer, what would you want to see, both in words and pictures?

please help me write the perfect selling story, Saab guys!

That all the electrics (inc. SID) are working properly, last aircon service, that all recalls (e.g. DI cassette) have been carried out.

ooh thats good advice. Sadly i paid for a new DI casette, wasnt aware of the recall frown

SIDs are missing pixels, which seems universal on 9-3s. Saab should have recalled but no one is going to sue them over a screen not working so im sure they wont bother mad

I put a new clutch in it 10,000 miles ago as well as the old one was worn (at 50k). Ill include that as well.

Any other tips?

Any other tips?
- When was it last serviced
- Whens it's next one, which one is it and how much will it cost
- State of tyres
- Tax
- MOT

I like to know when I will next need to spend any cash.

Also detail any recently replaced bits, like your clutch.

What's the story with the DI cassettes being recalled then? Mine's OK (2004 95 aero) at the mo but useful to know there should be some comeback if it goes?

I think that you're OK, the problem was a bad batch / design problem (?), which had been rectified by then... As Saab have my details, I was sent a letter informing me of the recall, but my car's an X reg. Someone might have some more info on this, but I wouldn't worry unduly.

It was a very specific batch over a fixed period - mine was one (02 9-3) - as far as I remember it didn't go as far as 04 models.

right chaps, let me know what you think and thanks for the feedback before!:

"Saab 9-3 SE (185bhp, 2.0T petrol), 5 door hatchback in Silver.

Two owners, 62,000 miles from new on a 2001/51 plate.

Manual transmission.

Great spec with ABS, subtle Saab Airflow aero kit, front and rear foglights, 16” alloy wheels, boot spoiler and remote locking with alarm and immobiliser.

Interior benefits from smart stitched charcoal leather & cloth sports seats, cruise control, climate control, CD player, electric mirrors, trip computer, carbon dashboard, and airbags front and side.

Full Saab Service History (West End Saab & ANG Services specialist independent) with stamps. The car has already had the big 66,000 mile service so the next service due will be a smaller “B, C1” annual checkup.

Aircon blows ice cold. Good tread on all four tires. Recent oil change (fully synthetic). The car has had the clutch and DI cassette replaced at 55,000 miles which should see it on to the far side of 100,000. Receipts included. Saab Information Display is missing pixels, common on this model.

HPI clear, MOT till August 2008 and tax until January 2008.

Call 07855 362 838. If I am at work and cannot take your enquiry, leave your details and I will return your call after 5:30pm

£4,500

No canvassers or brokers please."

Sounds good - mention whether or not you want email queries (I would say yes, I always like to ask a few qs by email first), maybe mention what tyres you have fitted?

fair points - i linked the ad to my PH profile so people can click my name with questions.

dropped the price a bit anyway, even though it makes it on par with much leggier cars. Saabs are cheap nowadys!
