im looking at one of these to replace my renault espace, its used to carry things for work.
5-600 miles a week.
i cant decide which 02/03 model to get.
3.0 tid is out so im wanting to compare performance/mpg for the 2.2 tid,2.0t and 2.3t probably aero/vector depending on model.
anyone give me a summary?
thanks,mike.

I have a 2000 9-5 2.3LPT Auto Estate, I average between 31 and 32 mpg between services (though I do a lot of M-way driving). On the Motorway at approx 75-80 leptons it does about 34-35mpg which for a large car (and an Auto at that) I reckon is pretty good. Round town can see this drop to 22mpg (the Auto gearbox nevers gets into 4th) and towing can see 18mpg. BTW I have now done nearly 160k in this car (It has nearly 166k on the clock)
There isn't much difference in the economy between the 2.3 and 2.0 petrol cars, the 2.2TiD is obviously more economical but it sounds like a tractor!!
Personally I would buy a petrol one and when this one expires (if ever) I'll be getting an Aero

Hi How are you getting on with your saab thoughts.. i've done about 30,000 miles in my 2.3t aero hot estate in the past year which is on a 52 plate it had 30K on the clock when i got it with one previous owner...on a run , light with the right foot your probably anywhere between 30/33mpg @ 70/75mph maybe even more if your really light...but if you use the right foot that will soon drop ....in town probably 24/6mpg more the norm which isn't bad for a large car with an auto box ...most of the time i leave it in "D" but if you press the "Sport" button it's a different car!!
I've also got the paddle shifters on the wheel which are great for your favourite bit of road!
It's good motor with plently of room for kit...i might be looking to change mine if your looking for one? Company car on the way and i cannot persuade the wife to have it!!
Cheers M
