Don't know if it's any use to you, but I get on average 28-29 mpg in an Aero estate Auto. Doing 2500 miles per month.

Mixed driving of town and motorways.

Car is a 52 plate 2002 model.

I have a 2000 9-5 2.3LPT Auto Estate, I average between 31 and 32 mpg between services (though I do a lot of M-way driving). On the Motorway at approx 75-80 leptons it does about 34-35mpg which for a large car (and an Auto at that) I reckon is pretty good. Round town can see this drop to 22mpg (the Auto gearbox nevers gets into 4th) and towing can see 18mpg. BTW I have now done nearly 160k in this car (It has nearly 166k on the clock)

There isn't much difference in the economy between the 2.3 and 2.0 petrol cars, the 2.2TiD is obviously more economical but it sounds like a tractor!!

Personally I would buy a petrol one and when this one expires (if ever) I'll be getting an Aero

thanks.
i was hoping that the saab would be more economical than the volvo estates ive had in the past.

had a v70R and a t5,both about 26mpg.so for equal performance the 9-5 looks better.

as an aside....whats the factory sat-nav like?

Hi How are you getting on with your saab thoughts.. i've done about 30,000 miles in my 2.3t aero hot estate in the past year which is on a 52 plate it had 30K on the clock when i got it with one previous owner...on a run , light with the right foot your probably anywhere between 30/33mpg @ 70/75mph maybe even more if your really light...but if you use the right foot that will soon drop ....in town probably 24/6mpg more the norm which isn't bad for a large car with an auto box ...most of the time i leave it in "D" but if you press the "Sport" button it's a different car!!

I've also got the paddle shifters on the wheel which are great for your favourite bit of road!

It's good motor with plently of room for kit...i might be looking to change mine if your looking for one? Company car on the way and i cannot persuade the wife to have it!!

Cheers M

Enough height for what? Just wondering as I am 6'5" - do you mean cabin or luggage space?

sorry...luggage space.
i carry furniture around and need at least 32" height at the door, the 9-5 is only 30".
to be honest id be better just keeping my espace but i want a car!
not many estates are bigger than 30" at the hatch.
new vectra??

I am also looking at one of these a 2003 2.3 Hot Aero estate. 50k mile with FSaab history.

Anything I should be looking for??

It has Saab warranty so I guess the major stuff is covered. Seems to be a lot of car for the money...

Thanks,
Jon

Goto www.saabsecene.com and the 9-5 forum, some useful stickies at the top of the forum. Aero's seem to have less problems than the other petrol cars.
