Hi all, well i have owned my saab 93 for about 6 months now,it has just done 100,000 miles(99 plate)and drives like a dream,my only slight concern is that sometimes as i pull way there is a whirring or whinning noise for a few seconds,it does this when hot or cold,my initial thought was that it maybe he clutch(it is a manual by the way).Is this common with the 93's of this year.
As i said it drives relly nice with no other problems.
It had a major service by an approved saab dealer at 80.000 miles and when i bought t it had done 95,000 miles.
Maybe it's nothing but any advise would be appriciated.

Is it engine speed or road speed related? If the former, maybe a gearbox bearing, latter, possibly a wheel bearing? I'm guessing though.

My advice: run it past a good specialist. Where are you based?

if sounds like a 'whoop' noise when you release the clutch, then its likely to be a noisy bearing. its quite a common thing for 9-3's. i wouldnt worry about it if everything else is working fine, mine does it occasionally after being stuck in heavy traffic. its been doing it for about 3 yrs and not got worse and the clutch and gearbox are totally fine.
put the radio on!

My 02 93 SE TDI does this. Saab indi says it's a clutch bearing but no point doing anything about it, it won't fail it's just noisy.

Thankyou for your responses,it s a relief to know that it s proberbly just a clutch bearing, strange that it only does it now and then, still i love the saab 93,top quality with all the bells and whistles at little money.
Thankyou again,kind regards,Leigh.p.wink
