Hi dudes,

I am about ready to purchase an additional engine, that I am going to overhaul, and build up with performance parts. What is want is a 2.3 engine out of the 9000 so i can overhaul the engine, by gas flowing the head, fitting forged pistons and con rods, bigger cams, stronger valve springs and valves, overhaul the td04 turbo to hybrid spec, beefier clutch, lighetend and balanced crank, new timing chains, water injected, and big intercoolers etc the works.

The idea is to build the engine on the bench, whilst leaving the current engine in the car so i can still go out for a blat now and then. Gonna take my time on the build, due to costs anyway, aming for the magic 600 BHP figure.

Does anoyone know where i can get a farly straight 2.3 aero engine from? (doesnt have to be a runner can had big end faiure, as long as the block and head isnt damaged. Also will be looking for a diesel gearbox

Why do want a 9000 Aero (B234R) engine, any 2.3 9000 engine will do as there are no differences with the Aero to non-Aero on the 234 engines.

And you won't get 600hp out of any hybrid TD04 powered Saab.....wink

And why do you want to change the pistons/rods....?

agreed

you will need a gt35 and up to get 600hp

you will not need the forged pistons

I would save the money get the rods shot peened

but I would get it all balanced internally and match weight the pistons
port the head and put as big valves in as poss
Also plan for a tubular manifold with an external wastegate

But the limiting factor is the stock fuel lines
they can only deliver enough fuel for 500hp so bigger lines /fuel pump and probably a swirl put will be required

oh and save up for plenty gearbox replacements
