Funny thing happened driving to/from work yesterday, a couple of times the clutch seemed to have more travel than usual (not a huge amount, but noticeable) before any resistance... but it only happened twice in a number of gear changes, and it hasn't done it since?

Any ideas, I'm hoping it's just a one off (crosses fingers, touches wood, etc)... oh it's a MY 2001 Aero with 116k miles - so I guess it's probably getting near the point at which clutches do go!

Thanks, CH

Check the fluid level?
It could be the master or slave cylinder on the way out.
Assuming you have a hydraulic clutch that is, and not a cable.

Had a similar problem with the wifes 900, turned out to be the slave cylinder

cheers,

it's not done it since, but i could really do without the expense at the moment... will remember about the slave cylinder if it starts playing up at all.

A friend has just had a similar problem on his classic 900, this time it turned out to be the master cylinder seals that had failed.
The clutch on the old 900s is as easy DIY job to change as it it bolted on the front of the engine, brilliant idea, really easy to work on.
