Windscreen Whilstle Fix.
Discussion
I can not believe this!! Think I have just discovered a fix for one of the most annoying problems with these cars!
A few days after I first got my Saab, I noticed that at around 90 ish MPH+ the windscreen would whistle really loudly the only way i culd get it to stop was to slightly open a window, or push the windscreen slighly with my hand. This was a major disappointment, and I searched quite a few forums to see if there was a fix for it, and it looked to me that there wasn't and apparently its one of the most common annoying things of the NG900. Oh well at least the annoying noise would help me keep my license.
Washed the car today, on opening the boot, I noticed that a load of water had got inside. Had a look at the boot more closely, and noticed that it wasn’t closing fully against the rubber seal. Even with the boot fully locked shut against the catch I noticed about .5 mm movement and could lift the boot slightly.
Promptly came to the conclusion that the boot catch need adjusting. So I loosened the catch and moved it down by around 1.3mm. Tightened and shut the boot and it bounced off!
So tried again, and again, and eventually adjusted to 0.8mm down where the boot shut firmly with no play.
Tried the boot release button, and the boot actually Popped up! It never did that before. You had to hold the button down on the key fob and lift the boot, but now it pop's up like it should.
Issue fixed.
Bit later on, im cruising down the A3, I use this road alot as I have some friends in Esher I visit. I look down at my speedo, and im shocked as im doing like 100. Im thinking that’s strange, the whistle noise hasn't started. So I increase my speed even more, and still no noise....WOW. I push the car to around 130 briefly (shhhh) and still dead quiet. I can actually hear the engine!
So im like... I wonder if the boot that was not sealing properly was causing the windscreen to whistle?
So I pulled over, and released the boot catch using the button on my door. Slowly i sped upto 80 mph and the whistle started again!
So there you go, it appears that change in the air pressure in the cabin is causing the whistle on the windscreen with the boot not sealing properly!
So if you are having this issue, check the adjustment of your boot catch! or the rubbers boot seals. If your boot lets in water, or never pops up when unlocked then that is a tell tale sign of a needed adjustent.

wtf.. is this true?
i have that exact problem, my windscreen is whistling very loudly anything over 85mph i thought it was due to a poorly fitted windsreen, and as the problem is above 70mph, the mechanics cant fix it,
i am now going to try and fix it on your advice mashhead, as the whistling noise is sooo irritating i have to drive with both front windows slightly open as its so bloody irritating
however my boot is cabriolet and yours is hatchback...i will try the boot but not sure it will work...but thanks for your thread i thought i was the only one with this problem
