I am now the proud owner of a Saab SE Full Pressure Turbo Coupe. Yay!!

I am however confused on exacly what sort of model it is, when I put the reg details in for my insurance it come up as a 900 Se Coupe Turbo, 'Taladega'. never heard of that name. what does it mean?

Also, im sure that my Saab has more than 185bhp, it just seems sooo much faster. I had also driven a 200BHP civic type R, but the Saab seems to 'feel' much much faster than this. Perhaps its just the way the turbo delivers the power i dont know. This afternoon, I briefly got the car to a rather insane *** speed and it was still pulling very strongly and am prettey sure it would of gone off the speedo if I hadnt of chickend out.

Im glad I did cos up till now i have been driving a rather slow knackered ford KA for the past 5 years, I have a clean licence and if im not carefull i could loose it at this rate lol .

Also I am finding that in 3rd, 4th & 5th gear, the turbo needle goes way into the red and it REALLY flies and sucks you back in your seat, but in 1st & 2nd the turbo needle just touches the red and jerks back if you really try to floor it in those gears. Is that normal?

Normally, in my experience, they don't go into the red. Perhaps your car has been chipped or remapped? The higher pressure turbo Saabs have a great combination of torque and power in mid-range acceleration which makes them faster than most people expect - so that bit sounds normal.

Does sound like you might have a re-map, as the decent tuners (swedish ones) usually torque limit the software in 1st and 2nd to protect the gearbox, hence what you are seeing with the boost guage needle.
A ECU only remap (Stage 1) should be giving in the region of an extra 40hp and a shed load more torque.

You could pull the ECU box to see, as some of the tuners put their stickers on the outside of the box, or do a power run on a RR to what it is giving, which will tell you whether it's re-mapped.

"Talladega" was a special edition runout model of the 900 - nicer wheels and bits and bobs.

I agree it sounds like it's been chipped - get it on a RR

Dunno exactly.....not got a NG900.......but it's hidden in a cubby hole up around the bulkhead somewhere, accessible from under the bonnet.....I think.

Unless some kind sole posts a how to here, you could go here
