OK, the Aero needs a new set of boots and have been checking out the online places, two things trouble me:
1) Load index - I believe it needs to be about 94? - I've Dunlop Sport 9000s at the moment which have a load index of 91, and the outsides are wearing quicker than the rest of the tyre.
2) Summer / Winter / All-season - ideally I'm after all season as I estimate I'll get at least 18 months use - but the choice in an all season tyre is minimal to say the least. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a manufacturer / tread pattern.

Like I say, I have Dunlop Sports at the mo, and I like them, but I can't find them in a higher load index - and I obviously want to get as much out of them as is possible.

Finally apologies for *another* tyre thread, but the load index thing isn't often covered, so might help someone out apart form me!

I've got Michelin Pilot Sports on my Aero, I think they match the spec you want. The ones on the car when I bought it wore very well (20k+ miles) so I replaced with like. Not sure about the all-weather bit - they seem OK to me, but I guess it depends how you drive?

If so, then yes you need 94 load rating.

It's not too difficult to get 225/45/17 in 94 xtra load index.

For a 9-5 Aero, I'd choose between either:-
Goodyear F1
Continental SportContact2 (or the new 3 which is just out)
Bridgestone RE50

You may be able to get the newer Dunlop Sport Maxx in XL as well.

Bought an 05 93 Aero convertible last year, rear tyres were origional continental, 94W, the fronts are Mitch pilot sports with a lower load rating (92Y from memory).

Checked with Saab technical before buying the car and they said they were 'safe', but when changing recomended I should put 94W's on.

Seems crazy, I also have a 9-5 3.0 Tid with the same tyre. It's prity obvious that the 93 oil burner is considerably heavier than the 93 Aero, yet they come as standard with the same tyre.

Ah sorry, this is a MY2001 9-3 Aero...

...My driving is generally fairly sedate, as my commute is 90% motorway and I generally have an eye on economy; on occasion though there is a friday afternoon blast home!

Main reason I'm asking is due to the tyre load - it's OK shopping around, but the load index seems to be inconsistent on whether or not it's shown on site like mytyres and blackcircles. I've been happy with the Dunlops, but I'm not sure if I should give something else a go - aside from the possibly too soft sidewalls, they seem to have been a good tyre - not lethal in the wet or cold (though they didn't see any snow this year) and feel quite grippy when conditions allow.

i would fit either mich pilot sports or conti sport contact 2 both in 94w xl. pirelli p-zero and nero worth a shout to!!!
