Hi got my car back after 3 weeks in garage, car running smoothly. took it for a spin. SUddenlyt he temperature gauge in car shot right up to the red point. I stopped the car, could hear the fan working extra hard. turned car off, turned back on and temp gauge to the max again. Then it said check fan belt on the lsd thing, then i looked at bonnet ..said some expletives, then drove car in traffic, temperature needle went back to halfway and now it works...
why would that happen?
why would that happen?
it had rear suspension, bushes, service, brakes discs/pads.
the car was working fine. I took it to this tyre garage, They tried to fit the tracking to the wheels of the car but could not reach as my car has been lowered and hard to reach. I think they must of turned the fanbelt off by accident, as i got into the car, floored it in first, then temp gauge went to max. turned car off, the needle pointed straight to max, then said check fan belt. i could not see anything visibly wrong with car. anyway now its gone back to normal, i am just wondering if my car is on its last legs or something, its done 170k and has been serviced throughout

I doubt its on its last legs - it's likely to be at worst some minor electrical thing. If it re-occurs I suggest you post the problem onto Saab Central
