My wife has a problem with her 1995 Saab 900 convertible. As soon as she reaches 55MPH the steering starts to wobble, as soon as she reaches 70 MPH it stops!

We've had the tracking and wheel balancing done and it's made no difference and I'm wondering if anyone has any idea as to what it could be?

Cheers

John

bulkhead seperation? it was a problem on those cars...not sure if those symptoms are the usual ones though.

might be worth looking it up on one of the saab FAQs.

Hi I had the same on my 98 900 turbo, bulkhead split from RHS inner wing so steering rack moved around as the bulkhead flexed!!! Known Saab / Vectra fault. Can be welded and repaired. Speak to a good Saab dealer or independant who will repair it.

Moosetvr,

Can I ask how much you paid for the repair?

There is a stickie on SaabCentral about the bulkhead thing - many people - even on quite old (mid 90s) cars, have had it fixed for free apparently...

does the car creak from lock to lock, bulk head separation is usually quite obvious.
the last on i repaired was a my 2001 93 3dr , only repaired 4 in the last 5 years.
look between brake servo and strut top/bulk head for break in seam sealer (operate stearing when looking)
no more than £250 to fix
dont for get problems with out of shape wheels and the fact of body flex makes every thing worse!

Just thought I'd let you know the outcome of this.

Basically we took it to a Saab specialist today and he balanced the wheels and everything is perfect again. We'd taken it to kwik fit last week to have all the tracking and balancing done, but they can't have done that good a job on it!

Anyway, all sorted for a couple of beer tokens!
