Is this the first time you have noticed such a noise?

How long have you had the car?

Could someone have nicked some of the soundproofing while it was parked up?

Has it been out in the rain a lot? Could it be water rather than petrol you are hearing? They sound quite similar.

have had car for ages, car has done almost 170k, 140k which i have driven.
sound is very loud. i thought it must of been a bottle of coke i had in the backseat or something but could not find it..and also checked the boot and water round the boot hinge bit at the back but nothing. then tested it and if i drive round bends i hear this water at the back sloshing like a big wave at the back of my car. i am thinking of driving it tomorrow to work but is it safe to do so? i smoke and wouldnt want to blow myself up if someone has nicked the soundproofing or something

K321,

The same happened to my wife's car, it's nothing to worry about,.

In the bag that the roof sits in when the roof is down there are two drain holes that drain all of the water out of it that collects when it rains. The holes are blocked and therefore it's not draining.

Lower the roof and release the switch when the tonneau cover is vertical, then you will hace access to the bag and it will enable you to clean the holes out and get the drains back to normal

Cheers

sorted except i cant get my roof down, though going to take car to the garage and leave it there for a couple of days, today i didnt see a speed bump and hit it at 60 and i think i destroyed the supension too!

anyway, the car is great still, and when i hear the water noise i know its just water in the hood and nothing too serious which is very relieving cheers
