Interesting thread on UKSaabs.co.uk;

www.uksaabs.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=12233

It would appear that Saab GB have started a recall for some DI Cassettes due to a faulty batch. Vehicles concerned are;

9-3 MY2000-2002 with 205 engine and 235
9-5 MY2000-2002 with 205 engine and 235
9-5 MY2001-2003 with 308 engine up to chassis 33027727

DI serial no's
b205/b235 d000000-d336210 or b083821-b096117
b308 c048743-f000999

Contact dealer requesting recall work if your car comes within this category,they will or they SHOULD replace your DI for a new one ,they will retain your old unit to send back to SAAB.

also good thread concerning this on Saab Central;

www.saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88373

So annoying!

My DI cassette failed last year, bought a new one and fitted it. Had a letter about the recall, but they wouldn't give a refund or part refund even though my car was on the list!

Might be worth a call to Saab HQ as some people have had a refund on replaced DI's if they've kept the receipt. Some dealers are being a bit picky apparently.

I've changed quite a few of these for my saab customers - looks like they missed the boat

I've had mine done - a "while you wait" service - about 10mins! There were two other blokes having theirs done - oldest was for an X reg 9-5

easy to change four screws and a plug - probably takes longer to do the recall paperwork

OK, shoot me now, but I'm a girl so I have some excuse for not understanding......

Mine is a March 2002 9-3 SE TDI - am I right in thinking mine is OK?

Petrol engines only

My X reg car was done last week, they let me keep the DI cassette that was on the engine so I have a spare now! First one failed at 94k miles, second one still going strong at 143k miles.

I'm in the same situation I paid out for one last year!!! Mind you I'm so fed up with the many 'expensive' faults my 9-5 has had I am changing it for a Mazda Saturday. Funny thing is I brought a Saab as it I thought they had a reputation for reliability irked
