In June of this year, my sis in law dropped me home after a relaxing spa day in London,I got out of the passenger door, said goodbye and shut the door. Then I realised my little piggie on left hand was hurting, I thought I may have nipped it in the door, but when I looked all i could see was blood pouring out, I quickly put my hand over it and told my sis in law I thought i had chopped the top of my finger off, she said don't be stupid and got out and ran around to my side, she opened the passenger door and sure enough there was the top third of my finger cleanly sliced off!!!
Hubby took me to Epsom hospital without looking at it, (Presuming that it wasn't as bad as I thought it was, you know how us women like to make a mountain out of a molehile.) When he did look he almost keeled over!
I then had to go to St George's, and phoned my sis in law to let her know what was going on, she asked if the surgeon could sew the bit back on, (I knew that she had dropped it twice before getting it in the bag of ice.) so I said they could have done, had it not been full of grit!!
Then sis in law said what did the doctor say about what happened? I lied and told her he said "WAS IT A SAAB?"
Anyway the good news is I now get 10% off all manicures.

So they didn't manage to sew it back on? Harsh
When I was a kid I got my thumb slammed in the door of a Volvo 245 - that smarted!
If you did that on most modern cars your finger would be fine and there'd be a finger shaped dent in the door It's just 'cos Saabs are built properly!
Sorry to hear of your woes though

I think it was a newish Saab 93 convertable.
Typing is Ok, it's amazing how the ring finger just adapts and does the work of two fingers, I am now a touch typist that makes a few mistakes, or suddenly launches into capitals.
I think it looks hideous, it took me about six weeks to look at it, but to be fair only one person who didn't know about it has noticed.
I can't do anything about it, it's not going to grow back, so there is no point worrying about it, C'est la vie.
