Nordic tuning near London?
Discussion
Does anyone know a specialist well experienced with the Nordic tuning packages based around London / South-East?
Im thinking of a Nordic "Stage 3" for my 2002 Saab 9-3 FPT, depending on what it would do to my insurance premium (i might wait till next year when my premium should drop considerably).
Thanks

If you order direct with Nordic in Sweden and any Saab specialist will be able to fit it, as long as they have Tech2 just in case they need to do any ECU adjustments because of security systems, VIN compatibility etc. Shouldn't need to but it has been known on occasions, so better if done with a Tech2 equipped workshop.
As far as I'm aware Nottingham Saab are the only authorised Nordic Tuning franchise in the UK.

wow, ive been looking around and performance parts are surprisingly expensive.
a good, solid upgrade package seems to run to nearly two grand in parts!
(i.e. not just a chip and filter!)
I will have to wait well into next year to do what I would like to do...which is fairly standard mods for a turbo car:
ECU remap (nordic / abbott / BSR seem much of a muchness)
3" downpipe
hi-flow turbo inlet pipe
cone filter or cold air intake pipe
hi-flow intercooler
metal recirculating dump valve
+ a boost guage
....and thats before i have looked at the suspension to alleviate the inevitable torque steer...!

Yup, with that list you've got I'm afraid so. Also, really it does pay to do it all in one hit as a matched package from from tuner, as you car is Trionic 7 equiped, rather than trying to mix and match hardware from supplier A with software from supplier B etc.
You can do it in stages, but again if you do this stick with the one supplier as a few of them (Maptun, Nordic & Abbott) will offer big discounts on each ECU re-map for the various stages of hardware as you progress.

Not quite.
Going the route you seem to want to take could take you in the zone of custom mapping which means you would be looking at either Nordic Tuning, Maptun or Abbott Racing as all 3 will do custom mapping.
BSR software won't support the level of tune you are looking at, they don't do custom ECU's.

Got a 9-5 Aero running a Nordic stage 3 for 18 months now...
Ordered direct from sweden, the stage 3 ecu.
Collated the other bits eleswhere, i.e elkparts.
Only slight deveation from the spec list is using a Hirsch 2.75" cat back exhaust, got it at 70% discount so couldn't resist!
Result... devestatingly brisk performance, and still sensible consumption provided you don't bury the throttle everywhere.
Have used Speedparts and maptun in previous cars, only went nordic as they promised more bhp/£££
Want to tune a T7/8 car, stick with swedish tuner (unless you have budget for hirsch of course!), wouldn't personally trust the english tuner to oil my door hinges.

Which DP/cat did you go for, the JT one or the Ferrita one as specified by Nordic...?
If I don't go the Hirsch route with mine (already got full the full Hirsch wheels/suspension/big brake pack) I will go with Nordic, but with custom software for Stage 3.5 as I want the hardware mods that the Aero really needs...i.e larger intake pipe and high flow intercooler.
3" JT sport, removes one cat from the system to, so really makes a difference.
Did the larger turbo inlet, along with the diesel snorkel, but kept rest of airbox std, as I can do without the hoover effect during the floods we always get round here if someone spits in the road.
Will be considering IC upgrade, you do notice a drop off in grunt after a few hard accelaertion runs with no cool down drive in between, whether thats all down to the IC is another matter.

Yup, Trionic knocking back because of it detecting rapid temp rises.
You'll need a re-map to take full advantage of the I/C upgrade. Was your software a custom map as well because of the intake pipe, which isn't part of Nordic's Stage 3..?

No, doesn't appear to make that much difference if any, all hardware was fitted in stages, the only one that I could feel any difference with was the 3" downpipe, then the ECU, which obviously improved things somewhat.
Not sure if I'd need a custom tune just for an IC, primary aim is to reduce intake temps to keep the stage 3 output lonmger and with a better safety margin, ok may get a few hp more, but wouldn't that negate the IC fitment as it would only raise temps again using the IC to it's capacity?
I'd rather stick with a bit of a margin on cooling.

I wouldn't neccessarily expect any more hp, just a better running car.
I know of a MY04 Aero owner that went Stage 3, then later added an intake pipe and better I/C. Some months afterwards he had the chance to get the software tweeked to suit the intake pipe and I/C by the tuner as a custom tune, and reported an much more responsive and creamier, more linear power delivery. He didn't think it was substantially quicker, but certainely nicer to drive.
