OK, on my 9-3 there is the standard electric radio aerial...but also a "sharks fin" aerial on the roof.

What does that do? Is it for a telephone kit that has been removed? I would like to install a bluetooth handsfree in the car, but there seems no evidence of a phone mount being there before.

Was a phone aerial a factory option "just in case" you wanted to fit a phone in the future?

I thought the sharksfin was a replacement for the electric aerial

Phone aerial and sometimes GPS as well.

I've got a speare to fit onto mine (as the current one is falling apart) and there are 1 or 2 (can't remember off the top of my head) cables coming out from it of the phone aerial type.

Pre-Wiring for phone is there, sharkfin is GSM antenna, unless you have factory fit sat nav, in which case it doubles as a gps antenna to.
All pre wiring should be behind centre console, normally around the climate control panel area, mic in the roof lining, audio channeled through stereo, recommend gettign the saab adaptor loom from a dealer about £15, makes it simple job to fit.

Blimey, this one has been dug up from the depths!!!!

You are correct though, in that pete is a god of Saab's, but I think he likes to concentrate on the C900's such as his (ex) excellent T16.
