9000 CD Stereo Wiring
Discussion
Stupid new owner question, I grant you.
Just bought a 1996 9000 CD XS, FSSH, pretty clean, most stuff works but with no stereo for the princely sum of £700
Where the stereo should be I have a bundle of wires which someone has handily cut the blocks off and replaced with bullet connectors.
The speaker cables are fairly obvious being, I'm guessing, the coloured pairs, one with a white stripe to denote positive.
The remaining wires I am a bit confused about though.
Theres a thick red, a thick black, a thinner red, a brown and white and some others.
Thick red I am assuming is switched live, the thinner read being the permanent live, the black being main earth.
I dont see what I would classically expect for an aerial cable and I cant work out which the aerial switch is for the electric aerial.
Does anyone have a wiring guide thats accurate as I read somewhere that the Haynes ones are a bit patchy?
Also, the power mirrors dont work, which I am assuming is the door switch, fair assumption or is this a known issue somewhere else? The fuse is fine...
All in all its a fantastic car for the money, drives spot on, think I may have Saabs for a while yet even if this one does turn out to be a bit of a dog...

Not exactly sure, but I would imagine they are standard - somebody had butchered the stereo wiring on my c900 when I bought it.
Get some ISO connectors from Halfrauds and splice them in - only one that might be backwards is the power / switched power feed.
Just found this too - standard wiring diag, should be like this as Saab switched to ISO connectors & standard wiring about 94/L

Thanks for that!
Having now found my multimeter, its a bit odd this.
Speaker pairs no worries, know what they are.
I have two permanent lives (thick reds) and two negatives (thick blacks)
Then a switched live (thin red)
That leaves me with a green and a brown/white
The green I *think* is the power aerial pulse as the wiring on that is a red and green in with a local earth
So what the bleeding hell does the brown and white do and why do I have two permanent lives and two earths?
Very curious...
