Help please 9-3 convertable hood

Friend has bought one recently, hood has been working fine and still does but the cover/boot bit isn't lifting, rest of it works fine, any ideas/pointers or any idea of some in Sheffield who can look at it/fix it. Thanks!

u need to go to a garage with Tech 2, they can diagnose the problem. i have had numerous problems with my roof. it cost me £1500 to fix the roof 2 years ago, the following year it broke again and now cant get it down, the cost scares me to fixing it so i bought a new car instead, a reliable volvo
