Aerial not retracting

Before I take the thing apart and break something, anybody know a quick fix?

It's a MY00 LPT 93 5 door. When I turn the radio off the aerial makes a clonking noise but doesn't retract. I've tried squirting WD40 down it with no success. Any idea?

You could take the aerial (mast) out and check it over (not hard). If the aerial is not telescoping properly, or the toothed belt on the end of it has bits missing, buy a new aerial (just the mast and belt). Fitting isn't hard just feed the belt into the hole and have someone in the car to turn the radio on/off as needed.

I've replaced aerials on several cars (inc Mrs Beards NG900S - same aerial as the 9-3) without difficulty
