There's a 3-door '89 'F' 900 Turbo 16S for sale locally to me.
And I'm tempted, but know little about them in detail.
Is there a buyers guide anywhere online (I've googled, but found very little).
Plus, does anyone have any pointers to power, 0-60, fuel consumption, fuel tank size, etc, etc, etc .... again - little via google (and certainly none I'd trust).
Many thanks in advance,
K
P.S - would it make a decent daily driver?

Power - if it's an F-reg it'll probably be a non-catalyst version, in which case it should be 175 bhp
0-60 - low/mid 8's. Incremental acceleration times when on the move much more impressive though, esp. in the higher gears
Fuel tank - 63 litres (later ones 68 litres). Fuel mileage in the mid-twenties normally.
What to look for - rust on wheelarch flares, inside doors, bonnet sides, lower suspension turrets where the driveshafts pass through. Noisy timing chains and gear boxes (pinion bearing particularly -very noticeable when doing about 45-60 in 4th or 5th). Noisy/leaking turbo's.
Good as a daily driver? If you get a good'un, absolutely. For an 'executive' car they weren't especially refined even in their days, but they feel indestructible, the seats are fantastic (as is the heater - it is a Swedish car after all), and on the move it's barrels of fun - subjectively it gets faster and nimbler the faster you go.

I think Eric covered it all then
Mine has been my daily driver for the past 2 years, I have no other transport I need reliable transport as I work freelance all over the place.
It's only let me down a couple of times and they were down to normal wear and tear items.
They are getting on a bit now and like any 15+ year old car you need to keep an eye on things, but they are cracking cars.
You really want some sort of service history to make sure it's been looked after - ideally fully synthetic oil changes every 6k miles.
Don't worry about rust on doors/bonnets as they can be replaced, but the rear arches do go, especially the near side one.
Gearbox/pinion whine in 3rd/5th, or popping out of gear.
Engines are bulletproof if well serviced.
Interior should wear well, leather interiors available on ebay for not too much.
Heated seats probably won't work but are an easy fix.
Suspension may be sagging at the back but a new set of springs and shocks will sort that.
It can be quite a hard ride and is cramped in the back, but the load area is huge and they are a great drive.
Tuning is easy - exhaust and APC tweak see a reliable 200bhp or so.
Bags of character, understated class
PS - I average 26mpg in mixed driving, 30+ possible on a run but I am addicted to boost. 0-60 as Eric says 8-8.5, but it's only half the story. I timed mine at 9 secs 2 up with a 17" monitor in the boot, but I tend to baby it in 1st and 2nd which is where the turbo torque kills the gearbox if you are brutal with the boost.
Full boost in 3rd and up gives for some giant killing acceleration
What colour is it? (black ones are fastest )
