my 95 Aero estate radiator sprung a tiny leak on Sunday, the local dealer wants £633 to replace it. Depsite a full SSH so far, the car is of the age that I think I will start to use a non dealer. Any recomendations ?.

Definately the Rad, when the RAC pressure tested it you could see a fine jet of coolant spray out the back of the rad.

A genuine SAAB rad is @£350 plus VAT. I have seen OEM rads for £140 inv VAT. One SAAB specialist I phoned advised against a non SAAB rad as it was linked to the auto transmission and so a failure of the rad could kill the transmission. I am not very technically knowledgeable but had no idea what he was talking about.

Do you need to empty and regas the aircon to change the rad on a 2001 95 Aero estate, I keep getting different answers ?.
