9-5 Aero vs 850r vs v70r
Discussion
Hello all
After some period of lurking, time for my first post. I'm now in the positon to afford to insure some of my dream cars.. (well, on my list to own before I die)
so the ones above are the current short list.. I'd include a Legnum but they all seem to have blacked out windows which I'm not enamoured of..
I have my eye on a 2001 manual Aero estate: its being touted as a 250 bhp aero but its a late 2001 car (51 reg). I was under the impression that the 250bhp models only came out in 2002. Could someone confirm this for me and is there a ay to be definite about the power output?
and if anyone has any views on the 3 way argument above..
cheers

Hi,
We went for the 250bhp Saab Aero 9-5 estate over the V70 T5. Had a number of test drives in T5's but to me they wernt able to be 'hussled' along on the twisties as well as the Aero was. Both are lovley on the m-ways/duels but we wanted something that was 'reasonably' good on the B roads. Clealy its not a 'sports' car. (although the mid range pick up will out pull most so called sports cars)
The saab also had the full kit of everything, looked better imho than the volvo and we got a fantastic deal on a pre-registered car with 11miles on it.
We have had the car 2 and half years now, and enjoy it very much. It still look ace.

As has been said, the 250hp facelift cars appeared in 2001. Saab's 'model years' span from approx Aug to Aug. The confusion is that they are refered to as 2002 cars, meaning Model Year 2002 or usually MY02, which runs from Aug 01 to Jul 02, MY03 would be Aug 02 to Jul 03 etc.,etc.
