1) HOT stands for High Output Turbo (normally reserved for the top of the range Aero or Viggen models
2) See above
3) Not sure on the mileage. Dad's 9-5 2.3t used to return 32+ easily
4) Great looking car which retain their value well. Torque steer can be an issue on some cars but is fairly cheap and easy to fix.
5) Great car to use anyday of the week!

Edited to SE I think is middle of the range spec so its got most of the toys!

buy a Saab as an everyday car and get a wedge for the weekends - best of both worlds

I've got a 2002 9-3 Aero HOT Convertible - which is basically the same as the SE (a proper HOT SE should have the 205bhp engine) but with more toys. I think its grand.

What's the mileage on the one you've seen - does it have FSSH?

Lowish miles for the year, and good spec... I'd check the service history carefully, and remember a mal-treated turbo can often go around 60K I'm told.

i think 150hp is more than enough power for a 9-3 'vert... even then it has trouble putting it down!

quick trip to abbott racing will sort it,, although perhaps at the cost of ride comfort... 9-3 'verts are the motoring equivalent of a big bowl of jelly!

Whilst there is indeed a degree of truth in what you say - it does really depend on the type of driving you do. I'm very glad of the power of the Aero for overtaking, skuttle-shake or not.

can't argue with you there... the Saab is a heavy old beast and whilst the wheezy little turbo puts up a valiant effort... a little more bhp always goes well in the overtaking department
