can't shut my boot...
Discussion
the boot lock on my 2001 95 Aero estate seems to be stuck in a locked position. I have tried using the remote fob, the key slot on the boot door and the inside handle within the boot. It's booked in at the garage tomorrow, but if I could rectify this myself then so much the better. It's a bit annoying as we can't shut the boot.
Any suggestions ?.
Any suggestions ?.
Seems odd unless it is truly jammed and maybe the electrics have done for the fuse?
My 02 Estate has a separate button on the fob and a remote button in the driver's door so it sound like the system is different. But if not I could have a look in the manual though I guess you have already done that?

thanks LongQ, already looked in the manual. When trying to unlock electronically, it makes the noise to suggest it is trying to do something, but the lock position never changes. When using the purely mechanical inside handle again it feels disconnected from the actual lock. Ordinarily I would take it apart and have a fiddle, but I am flying to Germany today on Business and really want to have it fixed so my wife can use the car, hence the trip to the garage. I really must buy a haynes manual though.
garage managed to get the lock working again (free of charge ;-) ), however the lock does need replacing. The sensor in the lock is knackered and the car thinks the boot is open and displays this on the dash and the courtesy light in the boot is constantly on. However a new lock from saab is 150 GBP.
I will try and fix the existing lock, but can anyone recomend somewhere I may be able to source a lock cheaper (already tried elkparts), a saab breakers would seem likea good place to look. Any recommendation ?.
It's for a 2001 Areo estate, but I'm hoping the lock is common across the range.

I had a quick look and didn't find anything related to locks but there is a contact link on the web site to get a quote for anything Saab - might be worth a try.
Had a good experience with them supplying a new front fog lamp for my Aero. Good price and very fast service.
