"key not recognised"
Discussion
I have lived with this "key not recognised" warning on my saab 93 (98-s) on and off for the three years that I have had the car. Normally, I use the method of getting around this as described in the manual, so I have not felt the urge to get anything fixed. Now it has got to the point where the manual work-around fails too, so the car is now stuck on my driveway. I like the car, but it has no value (170K miles), and so I wonder if there is a DIY method of bypassing this? I am thinking of scrapping this one and buying a slightly newer 93, but I need to coax it into action for a few more months with minimal expense.
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Calvin

Calvin,
is it something to do with the immobiliser in the key? Do you have a spare you can use? Not sure how much a new key plus programming would cost. Maybe if you are near a good specialist you could ask them to have a look.
Failing that ask in the 9-3 sections on www.saabscene.com or www.saabcentral.com.
