Saab 9-3 SE Cabin Fan possessed by demons
Discussion
2001, 51 plate hatchback.
Driving along minding my own business when cabin fan runs up to near full speed. Won't respond to controls, and continues to run the same when ignition off and keys removed.
I had to pull fuse "C" to stop it.
Dianostic test on ACC control reports no fault and all dampers/ diverters A/C compressor all control OK.
Currently having to run around with the fuse pulled, only putting it back in when demist required!
Anyone got any ideas?

Not heard the like before - could it be some sort of sensor problem?
Prof Beard
My SE went through a slightly similar phase - seemed to think it was about 10C in the middle of summer, so stuck the heater on full blast whenever it was in auto mode.
In this case it was definitely the sensors that got confused - but a quick disconnection of the battery and all was resolved.
Yours sounds more serious - but worth trying....

Thanks for the thought.
I also went to a Saab forum where several instances had occurred in the past. Turned out to be the fan speed controller(!?). A little sealed block with several wires poking out - hidden in the passenger footwell.
Anyway, £25 (plus VAT) from a breakers, and 1 hour later all was well in the world.
Interesting experience.
