2 Turbos to worry about instead of one!
Same as all other cars really, good service history etc.
Engine is pretty reliable in general.
I've also been looking for one but prices seem silly to me at the moment.
This is nice but is in Edinburgh and is only the 160 bhp version.

i ran a TTiD with Hirsch 200bhp remap done at Saab garage the week before the all closed
great car and engine
but watch out for the EGR issue
I had the problem a few times and when the AA came out they asked if i was using supermarket fuel which i was - they said that was the problem back them - 2014 they were seeing issue a lot then
but car was great - took mine to Monza for the F1 and then all over the alps on the way home, great long distance mile muncher
just make sure its full service history at decent garages

Didn't bother with the pickup oil thingy, mine use to give a "bong" on startup every so often - ran a 2010 TTiD 9-3 (£30 VED) was a nice car in all honesty, only sold it last year as needed a bigger car, the saloon was no good.
Just checked it's MOT, and it's had a few worrying rust and corrosion advisories, that's a shame.
EGR valve can give issues (just a diesel thing) same with DPF had both sensors go on mine, and also the Universal Steering joint can wear, sloppy steering...bit of a fiddly job to do.
Funnily enough I am punting about in a shed 2008 Vectra now (poor man's 9-3 supposedly), and it feels much better built to the 9-3....I am ashamed to say, as I am a Saab fan

I bought a TTID wagon last year in a fit of ebay madness.
It was high mileage but had some considerable money spent on it. It did still need some sorting after but these were mostly consumables (which sadly were advertised as good )
So, shelled out for; new tyres, battery, radiator fan module (ouch!), brake pads, and oil pickup o-ring, aircon fix, and it seems sorted.
It's a 9-3x model which seems as rare as rocking horse poo, only ever seen 1 other since I got it.
Just got back from a faultless 1000 mile UK holiday loaded up with 3 bikes on the back, averaged 50mpg.
Enjoyed the previous owner's Koni suspension addition that does make the thing corner on rails.
It's on 178k and the engine runs fine. Doesn't pull your face off but it's the sort of car that will creep towards 100 without you noticing.
Very comfy as it's saab!
Thread hijack to the chap with the Hirsch one a few posts back, mine came to me claiming it had one too, and whilst it shifts reasonably well, I don't really feel 200bhp. My aero petrol one (with a noob remap) I had a while back would have utterly blown it away. Are the Hirsch ones actually rapid or is mine broken? No smoke or warning lights.

Proving to be difficult to find the right example. I want a facelift auto Aero TTiD wagon with relatively low miles, service history and in good condition.
So far I’ve seen plenty with over 140k on the clock and all at silly money. There have been a few turbo edition ones with around 120k but have all had some niggles. At this rate I’ll be waiting a while unless I just get a turbo edition and swap over some of the bits from my petrol one.
Current 9-3 wagon ticked over to 131k recently and still plodding along

The perfect one very rarely comes along, if it does it usually has the cream interior which is hideous and isn't an Aero.
Maybe look at a Tid as with a reputable £300 remap will see it closer to 200 bhp.
Also waiting for that low tax model complicates matters.
Prices are just plain silly, a £2k car three years ago is now £5k.
I struggled to sell my clean and tidy aero wagon with 140k miles on for £1500 back then.

The standard tax version is still over 50% less than my current auto petrol aero. Not fussed about finding the absolute lowest tax example. May end up just buying a lower spec one and getting the 9-3 specialist down the road to swap over the nicer aero bits from my current ones like the interior and the hid lights.
Prices are all over the shop, makes no sense
