Saab 9-3 2.8 v6
Discussion
Hi
Just wondered if anyone had any experience with a 9-3 2.8 v6. I'm interested in this and just wondered if there is anything to look out for:

The reg isn't showing up on DVLA so I guess its had a recent plate transfer - I'm waiting a call back from the dealer so will find out.

The 2.8’s pretty reliable, definitely tunable but don’t go mad with it they’re not the quickest as standard but a remap will really liven things up. They should have left the factory like this.
Front springs are prone to snapping. Most upgrade to Eibach or H&R to drop it a tad lower, avoid Maptun springs.
I had a temp gauge fault on mine and the needle wouldn’t go back down when I switched off and stayed at 1/2 way so gave the impression it was over heating, this means a new dash cluster at £350ish.
Interiors a bit cheaply feely compared to old Saab’s.
MPG was around 27/28 for me normal driving.
I loved mine but it threw a rod a couple years ago, probably went a little ott on the tuning side. Hoping to get another soon

I keep an eye on these too, but watch out for £500+ tax bracket
Yep I can’t remember the exact date now but it was around mid 2006 the tax went up. The one in the link will have definitely have higher tax, any pre facelift with the old style dash (fibre optic crap) will be lower tax but you can also get these with the new style dash (double din) and these get hit with higher tax. It’s put me off getting a 07/08 car tbh so I’ll probable get a 06 next time. £500+ a year tax takes the piss.
Thanks for the responses- much appreciated.
My planned visit of this has now been complicated by this coming up on autotrader today

Did you get it?
Mate has a 2.8 V6 and it's mapped to 320bhp and I think 500Nm of torque (might be 550Nm). Crazy power, no traction in 1st and still difficult in 2nd but mid-range acceleration is brutal and left my F30 330D for dead on the motorway. Love the Aero look, shame about what happened, I always hoped they'd make a comeback one day. Quite big turbo lag but you get used to it and when the power does kick in (with the remapped one anyway) it does quite literally go berserk and you fight for control but in a good way
Very little has gone wrong with his, a new steering rack which was a pattern part and he got it for £150 plus fitting wasn't too bad. Rear caliper stuck but that's pretty much it.
I would prefer to get the AWD version for better traction off the line but they very rare and perhaps a little too expensive all things considered.

I keep getting a barometric pressure sensor fault on mine after doing the plugs and coils last year. I plugged the sensor back in but after 4 or 5 journeys the fault reappears. I’ve replaced the sensor once but the error shows that it’s still reading high.
I don’t suppose anyone has any ideas do they please? It’s a 2008 2.8 Hirsch-
Thanks
