2004 Saab Convertible
Discussion
Well watching dross on TV I found a local Saab 93 Convertible on scumtree. It's a 2004 93 Linear 1.8T in overall good condition with a long MOT and everything works. It cost very little more than a good meal out and I collect at the weekend. Does this car have a timing chain or belt? What precautions should I take with it? It has just turned 100k miles and has an independent service history. All power seems to have left the passenger door so no electric window and sign for door open on dash. My old 95 estate served me well and I was keen to get back into Saab with a modest contribution!

Timing chain. I don't know anything else other than drive it and enjoy roof down motoring with the heater on full whack through the winter.

Car sat for a few days over Christmas and when I tried to start it battery completely flat. New (November 18) battery in it so something must be draining the battery. Off to find my ammeter ....
I just bought a 2007 1.9 diesel and also seem to have battery issues. Not sure how old the one in there was but replaced it and OK so far. Been able to start since but it doesn't seem as keen to start up as I would hope, or my Dad's Alfa with the same engine was.One unrelated question though, do you have any issues with ground clearance? I seem to scrape it on speed humps unless I go over them to the side and have scraped it a few other places too. It doesn't look unusually low.
Haven't been over that many speed bumps to notice it any worse than my Golf GTD. I notice that the radio light stays on just around the CD aperture so hope to spend some time at the weekend with daughter and do some electrical testing to see what is using up the power. Will keep you informed ...
