Just on the off-chance. Looking for something I haven't tried yet, and a Saab fits the bill. Not exactly local to me, so just in case an ex-owner was on here, or if someone else had seen it already and can give a view (good or bad), thought I'd ask!

I have almost the same car as that except mines an auto. It’s really rare to find one like this with a sunroof, it’s the only thing missing on mine. I’ve had mine for three years, it’s on 95,000 miles and it’s never ever let me down. In fact nothing has ever gone wrong with it. Pretty fast, (mine is now stage 3, addition of 3” downpipe and remap.) I truly love mine as it’s very comfortable, has a massive boot, great heated seats and I love the fact that it has a discrete presence.

UK Saab’s is a great website with loads of friendly and helpful people on it. I found another Saab owner on there who services my car as he knows them inside out. Sometimes I think of getting something newer but I struggle to think what I’d replace it with! Highly recommended.

I've got an auto as well, about 135000 and counting. A great motorway mile-eater, comfortable seats, jolly comedy cup-holder, and blistering straight-line acceleration. I'm keeping mine for ever (just need to sort out the theft alarm which goes off at random intervals)

All sounds very positive. Thanks!

Anything obvious to look for? eg. on a higher mileage car, should the timing chain (+ tensioners) have been changed? (I think it's chain not belt?).

A bit of research tells me a Noob remap is a good purchase as well driving

edit: any recommendations for a Midlands-area Saab specialist to look after it? (ideally Coventry, Birmingham, Leamington, Solihull sort of way)

Maybe a bit far for you but I can thoroughly recommend Indy Saab in Rushden, Northants.

Noobtune - yep, I had my 2010 Aero auto (called a 2.3T turbo edition) noobed to stage 1. I don't drive the car hard, I just love the really noticeable torque increase in 4th/5th. Makes the car so much more driveable on fast A roads and motorways.

I'd also recommend the Eibach/Bilstein suspension kit from Neo Bros., around £600 plus fitting. An easy swap according to my specialist and I think it was around £250 to fit. At first I thought it was a little too firm but it settled in after 3 months or so and now I think it's ideal. Straight line stability is excellent.

Hahahahah. It is mine! I bought it on October 2018 from the Autotrader seler. Apart from light scratches at rear bumper the car was and is mint! Everything works. 2nd owner and serviced in ASO from beginning till 2018, so I continue to do so.
I love it. Really happy that I was able to contact quickly with seler and to buy it as I were looking for this car for long time.
