9-3 Saloon Purchase

I’ve always fancied one of these but as it’s our third car I’d like to keep yearly costs down.
Is it the diesel models that have tax around £190 a year?
I’m currently looking at a 2007 1.9 TiD Vector Sport anniversary, I’d have preferred a petrol but have to make sacrifices somewhere. Budget is around £2500.
They both seem to be easily tuneable though if I fancy a bit more power, also when did they get dpf fitted?
Thanks for any help.

Just done the paperwork on a 2007 1.9 TiD Vector Sport myself. Tax is £240 pa . 150bhp seems to go nicely and unlike my auto Rangie the kickdown does more than make the engine louder Is it the diesel models that have tax around £190 a year?

How are the auto transmissions? Are they pretty smooth?
I was looking at manual cars but do quite fancy an auto as I get older!
I wasn't bothered whether I got an auto or a manual but having test drove the auto I'm quite happy with it. Can knock it over into manual if you so wish anyway (but it won't let you over rev or labour the engine!)I was looking at manual cars but do quite fancy an auto as I get older!
I had an 2005 1.8T auto, and apart from the turbo blowing, replacing three fuel-pumps, burning tires every 8k, and a few other electrical faults, I loved it...Honestly.
The 09+ TTID is probably the one to go for, as opposed the petrol as they really are thirsty. Regarding transmission, the auto is fine unless you want to use the manual-sequential, in which case stick to the manual. The computer will only allow you into certain gears at certain speeds unlike the BMW system, so keep that in mind. The main thing is make sure it has had lots of oil changes, because the turbo's do fail if they don't receive love. Also, the ride is soft, so if you're looking to throw it around the place, it's not the car for you.
