Recently acquired a 2002 9-3 Aero coupe and as a precaution, although I have 168,000 miles of history file, I'd like to have the sump dropped and gunk scraped out.

Once upon a time, I'd spanner it myself but right now, with work, wifey and the two young sprogs, I don't have time...

so as per thread title, I'd most appreciative if someone could give me a ballpark for getting a good Indy to do the sump drop and breather work.

I'm in Leeds, if anyone can also recommend a decent garage.

Will be sniffing around over at U.K. SAAB's for info as well.

Cheers

Just following this up in case others come hunting...

£350+vat @ abbots including a bit more work.

Given I'm driving an £800 snotter, I'll be leaving it a while before doing the above....

Bit of a late reply but I used Aeromotive Saab in Batley for any work back when I owned a 9-3 a few years ago.

It’s not that late as I’ve got a 9-5 now and that’s where it goes for anything too hard for me to do myself!

Good to hear that they are still going. Viewing a 9-5 Aero estate this weekend, hopefully it’s not a nail.

Side note - interesting to see your car history as I’ve owned a few of the same cars too.

That’s a bit separated at birth our car history!

I imagine where they differ is that I have a nose for a pup...

It’s also sad to think it’s 14 years (!) since I last drove a VR4, lovely things when they weren’t eating diffs, brakes, driveshafts and forever getting ayc fluids changed.

I bought my last 9-5 Aero a couple of years ago and got a sump job and oil as part of the deal. Result!

You would be surprised, I’ve owned a few pups in my time including the current rustbucket nail E39 530i. My three VR4 saloons were pretty reliable, it was rust that was the main issue.

The 9-5 was an absolute nail so panicked and bought the aforementioned stbox BMW. All being well I should have a 08 9-3 Aero wagon at the start of next month. I realised the 9-5 was too big for me and the 9-3 made more sense.

Having owned a 04 saloon it should be fairly similar. Might actually get round to seeing Karl at Noobtune for this one though.

My 9-5 Aero was a nail too and has gone for scrap value for someone with a garage to do the work themselves as paying someone would be twice the price of the car and then some...

I have the Mondeo but I have also as of tonight picked up a 2.3t 9-5 for about £40 with 12 month mot via another forum...

£40?

That makes the £1700 I spent on the 530i look like the biggest scam going.

I’ll have to pay for a train ticket to get it though so I suppose it’s nearer £50 spin plus it is just run it at 220,000 miles...

Jammy git!

My 9-3 Sportswagon has half the amount of miles but I paid £1800 plus BCA fees so will owe me about £2100 all in. Mate went down and picked it up a few days ago, I’ll be having a look at it today and will get it on the road once I’ve sold the E39.

Will probably take it to Aeromotive for a service and a once over. Fingers crossed there are no hidden issues!
