Hi all, just bought myself an '05 95 Aero Hot 260. As predicted it's a riot, and also as predicted by everyone else I am already thirsty for more! Getting mixed feedback on whether a remap is good news depending on who I speak to. To read most of the posts on here it's a no brainer and yields good gains. Elsewhere there are claims of it being next to pointless on the 260 as it's allegedly already probably North of 270 bhp as standard and that anything other than tiny gains are difficult and expensive.

for what it costs it would be rude not to really. if you use him, karl will be able to identify what's already in there and, if you take the car to him, will be able to live map it for optimal running.

received wisdom is that a St1 is really about ensuring that what you have is doing what it should; although the torque hike will be nice there's not a big power increase. at St3 you'd be around 300bhp (?) and 440Nm so cost effective given the (relatively) low outlay on hardware

slippery slope though

Ignore the gains in bhp, it's the torque figure that is more pertinent (350 to 420Nm). The car feels different after the remap, plus it unlocks the OpenSID (diagnostic display) and the ability to select 'sport mode' for much sharper throttle response.

Well worth £80 for Karl to remap it.

Stage 1 will be well worth it, was like night and day when I went from stage 0 to 1, 2nd gear is still usable at stage 1 and is pretty violent when it hooks up! Karl's a great bloke as well, a wealth of information. If you decide to go for stage 3, you'll need around 400 for a 3" Albert downpipe (see UKSaabs) and 60 for a genuine Bosch 3.5 bar FPR.

Slippery slope indeed!
