Is there an easy way to tell?
It's got the Sid1 so don't think it does the readout like the later cars do, it's had all the vac lines done and has a diesel intake snorkel fitted.
It's quick to, far quicker than I remember my other two Aeros being

not really. one suggestion is that full boost on the standard map takes the apc needle just shy of the red zone and a remap takes it into the red. hypothetically this is reasonable to assume but too many variables for it to be an absolute indicator

if it's been mapped by one of the "biggies" you may find some stickerage on the ecu but, again, not a reliable test

Thanks for the reply,

I'll pull the ecu if I get a few minutes during the week. The needle just peeks into the red I think, I'm usually looking a looooong way down the road when I put my toe down laugh
It doesn't worrie me either way really, I'm looking at stage 3 in the future but more intrigued.

is it a later model? early cars were 230 and later ones 250 or maybe a bit more so you could have some added speedness c/o trollhatten

"open" sid is often a feature of karl's work (noobtune; other mappers are available) and i'd expect you to have the facility if it's been through his hands

Interestingly it's a 230, which were closer to 240 anyway, but still feels quicker than my last 2 which were both 250 HOT.
There's no hesitation at all low down. It pulls from 2k rpm and happily spins the fronts in a straight line in the dry in 2nd and 3rd on ruff surfaces (4th in the wet!). Throttle seems very sensitive too the slightest touch and you're off.
I've not got open SID. But I have Sid1 so not sure it can read the same parameters as the later ones?

If there is a chance it was done by Hirsch they will be able to give you all the details.

My 2.8 cabrio had a Hirsch on the back which the dealer thought was just a badge someone had stuck on. One email and I had details of how it was re-tuned to 285bhp.

The problem you have is that so many of the 9-5s suffer from boost loss issues. Your old 250 HOTs might not have been giving full boost and so your new one feels quicker as a result.

Remap the car to Stg 3 regardless.
Totally transforms the car for not much outlay

hardware is required for ST3, not just a remap. d/pipe, FPR and map sensor. consider also a better intercooler. good fun though and well worth the investment (as when you sell the car you'll just keep all the bits for the next one)
