Saab 9-5 DICE issue?! Help
Discussion
Not the liveliest corner of PH but no reply on UK Saabs and I need help.
My 9-5 has covered 19k and is mint. I've had it a year without issue. I noticed that switching on the heated rear screen caused interference to the radio but I decided I could live with it. I also noticed that occasionally the dashboard lighting would change from bright to dim without me adjusting the control. Again, I wasn't bothered.
However I have recently been getting a warning message 'rear light failure' I've checked all the rear lights including the high-level lights all the bulbs work fine. The rear fog light doesn't work. I ordered a new bulb and tried it. Still no success. I've tested the bulb and it works. I've also noticed that the rear parking sensors are kicking in when the car is not in reverse but someone walks past the back. Also irritating when stationary at traffic lights to hear the rear sensors chirping as another car approaches from behind.
Finally, I noticed yesterday that the cruise control had stopped working only if the lights are on. Cruise continues to work fine as long as there are no exterior lights turned on.
Basic Internet research leads me to believe the problem may lie with the dice unit?
I like the car and I'm hoping someone can re-assure me this isn't going to be heavy duty to resolve. Any tips or help gratefully received. Who's the best indie in around Sutton, Surrey??

It is a little quiet around these parts but we get there in the end. How old is the battery? With such low use it might be on it's way out but not actually failed yet, and this has been known to throw up all sorts of weird electrical issues. Try leaving it on charge overnight and see if anything improves? A new 4 year Bosch battery is only about £60 from Eurocarparts.
I second the battery as a probable cause; my 2007 9-3 started throwing all sorts of electrical gremlins - random error messages when things working fine' since changing the battery for a fresh one it's been fine - talking to a Saab specialist it seems a common issue that these are really fussy about the battery
