'Stage 3' 9-5 Aero
Discussion
Hey,
So I really want to give the 9-5 more 'ooomph' and the best bang for buck method of doing this is a Noobtune stage 3 map.
The requirements for this would be; 3" downpipe, uprated fuel pressure regulator and a 3" exhaust system.
Does anyone have any recommendations on the exhaust front?
I don't want to be breaking the bank but I understand you can't have all three (Fast, Cheap and Reliable) so within reason what exhaust system would be good, I'm thinking custom and getting the downpipe made up whilst I'm there?
I don't need a CAT, so that'd make things cheaper but I also don't want a boomy/intrusive exhaust note - I've got the Integra for that!

Indeed, it's only the downpipe which is a must-do. I have the bigger downpipe with sport catalyst running straight into the standard exhaust and it's fine. My downpipe is from a chap on UKSaabs, username of Albert666. I don't think it was the cheapest, but the quality is exceptional.
Also make sure you get a genuine Bosch fuel pressure regulator, as others are pretty much guaranteed to make the car run funny.

Thanks for the replies.
I'll probably end up going for Albert's downpipe.
Another question, I spoke to Karl about the FPR and he too mentioned a Bosch one. Trouble is Vauxhall World Parts parts are out of stock.
Can it be any 3.5 BAR Bosch Fuel Pressure Regulator or are they specific to certain engines? It's just that I found one on Courtnay Sport for a Z20LEX and that is in stock.

Not sure on that one...
I bought mine from Neo Brothers. The part number on their site is 0280160526. It may well be the same part but certainly double check...

hi
i bought a saab 9.5 aeeo a year ago and 3 months ago got it to stage 3
the car now is a beast. when i start it up i csn barely hear the exhaust its quiet. its only loud if i floor it which i tend to do a lot. in tunnels its absurd. i get people giving me the thumbs up
also if i overtake the exhsust noise bounces off the car and it sounds amazing but quiet if i am rarely pootling around
i went to walsall performance wlj who made a 3 inch downpipe and fitted it and decat. it cost me 240 quid. they also took the lambda sensors out. i then bought a non bosch 3.5 fpr for twenty quid off ebay then saw karl who did the remap. in all it cost me 300 quid
the downside is i get 14-18mpg in city and 28mpg on mway
also ive had to change brake discs and pads and a reconditioned turbo after stg 3 . i think the turbo was on the way out anyway.
also tyres wear more
plus side is that i have a old big saab that is an ultimate sleeper
i kept the standard exhsust system only adding a bigger tailpipe for a tenner

also i found a quick way to make the car get more boost
remove the top vacuum tube from the boost control valve and then plug the loose tube
there is info on the net. it takes a minute and the car will immediately feel more responsive
Tried this on Saturday. Turns it into a 335D Killer! remove the top vacuum tube from the boost control valve and then plug the loose tube
