Hi,

My 9-3 TiD 150 stripped several teeth from the crank end of the timing belt whilst doing approx 2000rpm on the motorway yesterday.

My question is - on this engine does this always mean valve/piston interference or might I have got away with it?

My garage can fit a new belt and check compression, but this would cost approx £120 or so and the car is only worth (when running) approx £500.

I'm wondering whether this would be a waste of money...

Any experience to suggest that it might be worth the risk?

Thank you,

Dom

See my thread directly below this one.

How did this happen? Is your water pump ok? The damage caused will depend on how much the belt has "jumped".
