Hi guys,
Wondering if someone with a bit of technical knowledge can help.

I suffered the dreaded EML/EGR issue the other week, limited performance, had to limp the car to a garage, take half a day off etc. Pain in the bum.

I'm now paranoid about it happening again. I could regularly remove and clean it, or I could fit a blanking plate. Reading around, there are many conflicting stories about whether this is good, bad, right, wrong, deadly etc.

My questions:
1. Has anyone done it to a TTID? It's an '08 180bhp.
2. Has it thrown up any EMLs or other issues eg MOT?
3. Should I get one with a hole/vent, like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/45-A-EGR-valve-blanking-...
4. Can I fit it myself in an evening? I can do brakes, service stuff so am not too daunted by getting greasy.

I think the answers will be yes, no, yes and yes but I think I just need a bit of moral support and a kick up the arris...

TIA PH smile

A full EGR blank will cause limp-home and fault light. I tend to just treat it as a service item and clean it every 10k. More problems with DPF for me.
